Shopping

Hawick is known throughout the world as ‘home of cashmere’ and has amazing outlet shops from Hawico, William Lockie and Pringle. Also in the town is Johnstons of Elgin which also has a lovely cafe.

Whisky

Borders Distillery is in Hawick, offers tours and of course whisky!

Hermitage Castle

An incredible broody remote castle just down the road and around the corner (about 15 minutes drive away)

Kielder Lake

A huge lake that you can cycle around (about 25 miles), a beautiful forest and sculpture park.

Jedburgh

A lovely Scottish town with a beautiful old abbey, Mary Queen of Scots house (that you can go into), a castle jail and museum and a high street with small independent shops.

Kelso

Kelso is a lovely historic market town, famous for its large market square, ruined Kelso Abbey, and nearby Floors Castle, situated at the confluence of the Rivers Tweed and Teviot.
